52 in 52: Do a class at the gym

The reason I put this on my list is to challenge myself to try something new. It's easy to get into a bit of a fitness rut and do the same thing every day. I've always wanted to try the RPM classes at the gym, but was worried about how intense it would be and whether I would be survive.

Recently I've been doing my 12 week challenge at the gym, and one of the things I've appreciated the most is the variety in our group training sessions every Thursday night. We had a taste of the RPM class, and I found I really enjoyed it, thus the decision was made. It was time for RPM.

65km for 65 Roses

A few weeks ago I got a text from a friend:

Hey! I'm going to be walking or riding 65km, I want to raise money for cystic fibrosis

Cue the expected response from me of “sounds like fun! Want someone to join you?” It appears I still haven't learned to keep my mouth shut, instead of always getting myself involved in things.

After we quickly ran the figures and determined that spending 13 hours walking didn't sound like much fun, we quickly decided we would ride. Now I've ridden 100km before during the Around the Bay bike ride nearly 2 years ago, so I have an idea of what that distance feels like. Chere on the other hand, does not. An update of recent events in my life

Next month I'm riding in a 100km bike ride in Melbourne, and this week my lycra jersey arrived! It's the first time I've ever owned a lycra top (I bought my first lycra pants last month when I bought my bike), and I have to say it doesn't feel as bad on as I had expected. Getting the top was pretty exciting, and made the prospect of doing this ride all the more real. Now I just need to make sure I'm getting some more serious bike time so that I'm prepared, and don't die from the sheer amount of time spent in the saddle (I expect to have a very sore bum).
