Sunday 26th January

Ah, Australia Day. The day of the bogan. You can see my thoughts about Australia Day here. I had a great day though, listening to the Hottest 100 (wahoo Vance Joy taking it out with Riptide) and having some drinks. I was classy as usual, busting out the drinking glasses with Bel and drinking some Belgria (Bel's sangria) through straw wrapping around my eyeballs. It was a bit strange, it was quite cold! We also busted out the board games in that we played Bunnings Monopoly and Jenga, and had loads of fun. Great day!

Mario's first time ever at the Big Day Out! He's actually never been to any music concert or festival ever, except for that one time on the Sunshine Coast that he saw something something near Noosa. I think. It was the something Cartel, every time he says their name I just think of the mafia. If he told me he saw the mafia jamming one day that would be cool!

We had a great day, and saw acts like Grouplove, Bliss n Eso, Pez, Kingswood (for a split second), many others, and also the great Pearl Jam. Vitalogy was my first ever CD that I bought for myself and I still love it to this day. It was a dream to finally see them. My only regret was that i had to leave early because we had to drive 2 hours back to the Sunshine Coast to get ready for work the next day, and we're sensible kids. As you can see in the photo above we're already buggered, and this was about 40mins before we left. True to form, I was super unlucky in that it meant I missed hearing Pearl Jam sing “Alive”, one of my favourite songs. Gutted. But overall a good day, and Mario even enjoyed some of the music he heard!

Sunday 12th January

Today I got to witness two of my friends celebrate their relationship by formalising their love with a commitment ceremony. I wish with all my heart I could say they got married, but unfortunately the politicians in this country are still far too ignorant to realise that there's no harm in allowing same sex marriage. I won't rant more about this, but I think it just plain sucks. Anyways, it was an absolutely amazing and wonderful day, and I'm honoured to have taken part by attending a wedding for the first time in pants and sneakers – being on the “groom” side of a bridal party rocks!
