A few weeks ago some friends and my family packed up our caravans and children, and set off on a 7 day trip to Lightning Ridge.
It turned out to be a trip of nearly 2200km (just over 1360 miles), and 37.5 hours of driving.
We had so much fun!
There were definitely some challenging times – our son had a few epic meltdowns, all part of his emotional development journey, and it was exhausting in some parts, but it was a brilliant trip.
We got to see inland Australia, areas I’ve never been before. We went down into some opal mines, fossicked in the open, and saw beautiful scenery. We also got to introduce our friends to our home-away-from-home, the Stanthorpe/Granite Belt winery region.
When we were travelling we had to make some adjustments because of flooding on some major roads. Weeks later, some of these areas have unfortunately been hit with relentless rain. The flooding has gotten worse and has now taken over the towns and homes. We’re thinking of everyone out that way and hope you all stay safe.
It took me a while, and I kept procrastinating, but I managed to put a video together of the trip. A 12-minute video in fact, but it was enjoyable to do. Actually, the other week I was wondering why I bothered putting these videos together, and then found myself sitting there watching them with my husband and son remembering our trip to Japan. So essentially, these over-produced and low-quality home videos are worth it in the end.
Enjoy!
HOW FUN!! Oh my word. I love this! And I wish I had half the tech skills you have, to be able to put together something so beautiful. haha. Love it! You and your fam are the best.
