Yep, I’m posting this early. See this post for the reasons why.
2021 is “The year of health”. All of it – mental health, physical health. All of the items on this list are related to my health in some way. It could be obvious, or it could be a little more obscure (i.e. specific activities that will benefit me mentally or physically in some way).
I have just spent 2020 feeling crap (it was a pretty horrific year with the pandemic and everything else) and I’m done. I need to make a change. I’m frustrated, sick of doing the same thing and expecting different results, and irritated I’m not setting a better example for my son.
So, here we go. Time to make a change.
So without further ado, here is my list in alphabetical category order.
Activities
- Go for a walk in a national park
- Have a picnic with my husband
- Reinstate the date night once a month with my husband
- Have a family weekend away
- Complete a jigsaw puzzle
- Print and display my 52 in 52 list somewhere
- Buy new indoor plants
- Learn to reward myself with a non-food related treat
- Find 3 inspiring quotes, print them and display them on the wall
- Complete 100 happy days (a photo a day for 100 days of something that made me happy)
- Reimplement a regular house cleaning schedule
- Take myself on a date once a month
Health
- Get back to a regular sleep schedule
- Set a running goal
- Reduce intake of processed sugar
- Get back to regularly drinking 2L+ of water a day
- Use skin cream (from my skin doctor) on my chest regularly
- Use the breathe app on my watch for breathing exercises
- Get back to a healthy weight
- Get a massage
- Do yoga once a week minimum
- Start taking a daily multi-vitamin
- Use the foam roller once a week minimum
Hobbies
- Complete 12 craft projects
- Finish reading a book about binge eating
- Learn more about nutrition/cooking
- Implement a running plan
- Implement a strength-building plan
- Learn a new skill
- Complete a DIY project and learn a new skill
- Blog once a week
- Re-read “Sweet Poison Quit Plan”
- Read 6 books
Mental Health
- Be honest to someone about how they make me feel
- Create a gratitude journal
- Buy a full length mirror
- Take a full length photo regularly (i.e. become familiar with my body and face the reality of how I look)
- Follow a meditation program
- Begin a self-affirmation jar
- Find a technique for dealing with stress
- Complete a self care check up worksheet once a fortnight
- Complete online disordered eating workbook
- Schedule 1hr of self-care each week
- Learn and track my stress indicators
- Wear something that makes me feel great
- Create a playlist on Spotify that makes me feel positive and motivated
Professional
- Get a breast checkup
- Get a referral from my doctor to see a therapist
- Find a therapist I like
- Visit the dentist
- Get a health check up with my GP every 3 months
- Get a skin check
So…there you have it. The list.
Time for the year of health to begin. I’m looking forward to seeing where I am in 12 months.
