As part of preparing for the 12 week challenge, they have asked each of us to fill out a sheet with our goals. On the information night, they explained about goal setting and ensuring you use the SMART approach: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely.
Since I aim on documenting my entire journey, I figured why not write them here?
Personal Goal
What is it that makes achieving results in the 12 Week Challenge important to you?
I suppose you could call me a talker, and a dreamer. I talk about my dreams, I never really achieve them. History will tell you how I have procrastinated and talked about the process to achieving them but I never follow through. At my best I start out on the journey, hit a plateau, give up and binge. Achieving results in the 12 Week Challenge means I have been able to push through and actually complete what I had set out to do. It's more than just getting results – it's overcoming a weakness.
Physical Goal
What changes would you like to see in the mirror in the 12 Week Challenge?
How long do I want to really make this blog post go for? In all seriousness, there are a couple of areas I particularly want to focus on. My lower body – my butt, hips and waist; they've always been big for as long as I can remember. My stomach – I want to get rid of the muffin top and the pouch I've got going at the bottom of my stomach, and reveal the six pack that I know is bursting to come out. My arms – I have tuckshop lady arms that if I could get rid of those and get a bit of definition around my biceps, triceps and shoulders, then I would be thrilled!
Performance Goal
What improvements or achievements in physical fitness and strength would you like to be able to achieve?
I would be over the moon if I ran 5km in under 30mins (also a 52 in 52 goal too); I've never been able to achieve that kind of pace before. I would love to be able to be able to do 20 pushups on my toes without stopping. I would like to get a new PB in sit ups and squats in one minute. To be non-specific, I want to outright smash my fitness test results from the start of the 12 weeks!
Overall Goal
If you could sum up your overall goal for the 12 Week Challenge, what would it be?
To look better, feel better, be faster, and more than anything, be proud of myself. I don't want to have any excuses. I want to know that I gave it absolutely everything, and didn't give up.
Beyond Challenge BIG Goal
If you could achieve absolutely anything, what would that be?
To beat my Noosa Triathlon PB by 20mins. I did it last year in 3.5 hours, if I could have that time down much closer to the 3 hours – 3 hours 10mins mark this year, I would cry out of sheer pride. It's the definition of a SMART goal, and I believe it's possible.
I look forward to re-reading this post in 12 weeks, and again after Noosa Triathlon. I look forward to saying “remember when it was just a thought?”
