It’s brilliant being normal

The best thing about blogging, and baring my soul to the world, is finding out that everything you’re going through is pretty normal.

Thank you to everyone following Kelly’s World on Facebook that left some amazing and kind comments for me following on from my last post.

My therapist was totally right – I need to keep blogging. I wrote that post just to recap the day and get it out of my head. A blog post is almost as good as a therapy session for me. I re-live the moment, analyse how I felt, then let it go and carry on….except that I’m letting it go on the internet for everyone to read.

I’m so lucky to have the friends and mum tribe that I do. The solidarity that comes naturally when someone cries out for help. The lack of judgement (even though I am brilliant at convincing myself otherwise in the heat of the moment). I’m just so grateful for you all.

Today was a good day – nothing exciting to report. The moments that Luca started to feel a bit heated I used the technique my friend gave me (telling a ridiculous story) and it worked a treat. Today’s story involved princes and princesses, a frog that functioned as a nose, changing skin colour, and fart fingers (guess which bit Luca invented).

We did a lot of drawing, some number counting games, playing with his cars, and a visit from Nana and Poppy. Luca learned about losing board games to others (he didn’t like it, don’t blame him but declaring he hates the person is a bit over the top). We also made a beetroot and butter bean dip that Luca declared was so nice he didn’t want to share with any of us…eventually we convinced him.

Luca was so excited for his Dad to be home today. When I announced his Dad was about 30mins away, he decided we needed to throw him a welcome home party, chainsaw themed (my husband loves to tinker with chainsaws). Some excited drawing and sticky taping later and Luca had decorated the hallway ready for my husband’s arrival. When he heard the car he literally ran out the front, made my husband close his eyes, and guided him in for his surprise.

So I guess just a big thanks to everyone for all the reassurance yesterday, and I’m feeling much better today. Things are looking up!

Let me know your thoughts!
