This morning I woke up feeling like I was hungover.
I’d gotten to bed at a decent’ish time (just after 10pm), but I placed the blame solely on having dessert last night. We had friends for dinner, and had apple pie with custard. Drew had also made some ice cream at home so I had a taste of that a bit later.
When I woke up every part of my body just felt heavy and my face hurt. The only thing I can liken it to is like a sinus hangover. I’m experienced enough with my sugar hangovers to know what they feel like now, so I pulled myself out of bed and started drinking a ton of water to flush it out. Within about half an hour the feeling had passed.
I put in some good mileage today on the treadmill and pacing the house – about 16km in total. My run club doing the round-the-world virtual challenge is trying to finish this latest region by the 19th of January and we’re running a little bit behind. The next 10 days are going to be a push but it will be amazing if we get there.
Other than that it’s been an uneventful day really! We went and caught up with some friends so Luca and his mate could play together and ended up staying for lunch. After that we came home and I started doing some more designs for the next craft project while Luca had a nap and Drew mowed the lawn. This afternoon was just hanging around house.
I’m about to start on my new Sunday night ritual – planner night. Basically work out the goals for the week, some meal planning and when my workouts will be.
I’m still technically on holidays for one more week, although I’m going to be working from home for at least one day to get something done that’s due this week. I’ll just take it as a day in lieu later in the month to make it a long weekend.
Food-wise, this week coming is the next step down to cutting out sugars. It’s not 100% yet, but it’s cutting out fruits, condiments etc. I haven’t been super strict on myself to this point – I’ve just been trying to remove the idea of restriction and asking myself if I really need the snack food. I’ve been trying to focus instead on increasing the right foods, this week in particular good fats and proteins. I’ll continue with that trend this week.
The other night we made some brownies using chickpeas and substituting honey for rice malt syrup, and they turned out great! Luca, my “helper”, especially enjoyed cleaning the spoon after I had added the peanut butter.
I hope you all had a good weekend!
