Time to fly to Bali

Well folks, it's about that time: time to fly to Bali!

I have some blogging to do to update you with the last few days in Melbourne, which food played a large part of. I don't think I have stopped eating the entire time, and the size of my gut has increased accordingly.

This morning at the airport I very nearly tried to check onto a flight to New Zealand, only to realise that that trip is later in the year, not now! Duh! It wouldn't be right without a dumbass Kelly moment (I should also mention I'm half asleep). When I finally checked in for the correct flight, I was stoked to get an exit row seat, hello extra leg room! Who said I needed to travel with a 6ft 8 giant to get such benefits? It's aisle, but to be honest I don't care to look out the window. As a good friend said, most of the time we are flying over the land of Australia anyway, and I'm pretty familiar with that country 🙂 [...]  read more

Breakfast at Crabapple Kitchen

Today I have been left to explore the city on my own, as both Jens and Julie had to work today. I felt their pain…actually, no I didn’t as I’m on holidays!! Woo!

After a lazy morning with a sleep in until 8am I rose, showered and made my way down the street to hunt down a breakfast cafe. And find I did! I found Crabapple Kitchen on Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn.

The Campos coffee was also incredible, but unfortunately rest in the shadow of the pancakes.  [...]  read more

The holidays begin

After an 8 hour slog at the office today the holidays have officially begun! Wahoo!

I'm currently sitting in Brisbane airport utilising the free wifi and killing some time before I board the plane. Good ol' Tiger Airways and the unpredictability of whether I will actually reach the destination, it always feels like you're playing airline roulette. The latest rumour I've heard is overselling the flights? Needless to say I arrived nice and early and checked in before heading for some crap airport food with my mum (thanks Mum for dropping me off). [...]  read more

To my dear passport…

To my dear passport…

As much as I love you, I have found that you bring out the sadist in me. I love nothing more that seeing you get punched, by a stamp nonetheless, but punched all the same.

You see, the violence inflicted upon you means a journey for me. A trip to somewhere abroad. A chance to see and experience a life so unlike my own. A chance to open my eyes. A chance to grow.

In the next 12 months you will endure a few more punches. In just over a fortnight you will receive your first as I head to Indonesia. Then another punch when I visit New Zealand later this year, and a final blow upon visiting Malaysia in 2014. If I'm really lucky there may be a brazillian punch as well, pending whether Australia qualifies for the World Cup (and how tight the strings on my wallet are). [...]  read more
