April update for the 2018 52-in-52 list

I had a cracker of a month when it comes to my 52 in 52! I started the month with 35 items remaining, and as it stands right now I only have 26. That’s 9 in one month, hells yeah!

Let’s go through them.

Join a mother’s group

When I was pregnant my hubby and I did an antenatal class to prepare ourselves for the birth. After that, all of the girls in the class stayed in touch. We were all first time mothers, and it was helpful to chat with others going through the same process.

Well, just recently we’ve gone from more of an online discussion group with the odd catch up to becoming more of a mother’s group., starting with organised a fortnightly catch up taking turns hosting at our houses. The babies play, the mother’s debrief, and we all enjoy ourselves. [...]  read more

Hoping for some wins

I’m hoping for some big wins this week!

Feeding to sleep

I’m going to put my hand up and admit that I got Luca and myself into some bad habits. As a first time mum, I’ve had no idea what I was doing, just winging it (which I’ve been told is what every mum does). Coming out the tail end of the first 6 months (Luca letter pending) I can say that I’ve learned some lessons that I won’t repeat should we decide on a second child.

Regarding naps, I looked for the easy way out when it came to getting Luca down for a sleep. He settled so easily when he was comfort sucking on the boob, so we went with that. [...]  read more

Weekend recap

I’ve blinked and we’re already at Monday morning! This Monday is a bit special though, it’s my last week of work until May! Yep, maternity leave kicks off at the end of this week. I’m planning on having an alcohol-free wine with the mister outside Friday night just to toast the transition. I can’t believe it’s here already.

Even though the weekend went way too fast, I had a great time. It had a little bit of everything:

  • Housework
  • Date with the husband
  • Shopping
  • Relaxing on the couch
  • Catch up with parents
  • Binge watching Netflix

More backyard work

Both Saturday and Sunday Mario spent more time out in the garden. He put mulch on top of the retaining wall, and moved the lighter pots onto the top of it. We still have some huge terracotta pots that require at least 2 people to move, but we’re not sure where we want to put them yet. [...]  read more

Facebook “wtf” product ads

Have you ever been scrolling through Facebook, seen a product ad, and simply wondered:

What the fuck is that?!

That happened to me the other week. I had to stop and screenshot the products in question, because I needed proof in the future when I tried to explain what I had seen. Tonight, I decided I would try and guess what the products were. In my defence I did try to find them again on the site so that I could actually link to them for you all, but they had disappeared. If anyone wants to hunt for them on wish.com, good luck! [...]  read more

Bali preparation: clothing

At the end of next month I will be jetting off to the beautiful Bali for a holiday and for a friend's wedding. It will be my first time there, and my first time travelling solo, although through my friend she has introduced me to her friends, and will be meeting up with them when I arrive. I won't be seeing my friend, the soon-to-be-wed Jo of A Rainbow Life, until her wedding day. It's been years since I last saw her, not counting FaceTime and Skype video!

So my usual holiday preparation has begun where I think about what I need to buy in preparation. Number 1 thing was clothes. I don't have any nice hot weather clothes! The dresses I bought in Thailand I've decided I'm not a fan of, and I needed some shorts as I wasn't planning on wearing denim ones! I get away a lot with singlets at home so i have that covered, but denim shorts and jeans just aren't going to cut it (unless I want some serious leg rub rashes). So I hit the DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) yesterday with Mum, and came out of it spending just a little over $120. The purchases: [...]  read more
