A crappy 48 hours

It’s been a bit of an interesting 48 hours here at Casa De Kelly’s World. I got hit with a bug, and we’re still not sure whether it was gastro or food poisoning, but it’s not been pretty.

On Wednesday I spent the entire day out with the little man and his aunties at the zoo. When we got home I was exhausted, but felt OK. Mario got home from work, he took Luca and the next thing I knew I passed out on the couch for an hour. It was nice, extremely rare, but unexpected. The Poor Little Miss isn’t doing so well

Unfortunately my poor little pup isn’t well. Last week she had the runs but we thought it was because of some steak we gave her – she’s only used to dry biscuits. Over the weekend we didn’t notice anything, but she was still eating and enjoying her food. Come Sunday night, she seemed a bit more tired than usual, which we had attributed to the 40 degree heatwave that we had experienced over the weekend.

This morning when she still hadn’t eaten, and was really showing signs of fatigue, I decided it was time to take her to the vet. $1,200, an x-ray, ultrasound, drip for intravenous fluids and a lot of prodding later, it’s been determined that it’s just a nasty virus that will hopefully clear up within a few days. We’ve got antibiotics and prescription food to feed her in the interim, and I will be working from home tomorrow to monitor her food and movements. [...]  read more

Getting sick and learning a lesson

Last week, in the space of 2 days I had mouth ulcers, the beginning of a cold sore, a sore throat and eventually a cold. I think my body is trying to tell me something.

Either my hygiene is disgusting or my immune system is significantly underpowered.

I can't say I've had a lot of stress lately. I have just returned from holidays (still blogging them, as you know) so that was a huge stress relief, but last week my dog just had surgery to get a lump removed (later found to be benign, woohoo). I have just started dieting, and returning to work to a big pile of half done work from my colleagues was also tough, but I have been in much worse positions before.  [...]  read more
