Tired but smashed it

After yet another sleepless night, I awoke with a headache, stiff neck, and huge black bags under my eyes. Nothing some make up and a nurofen couldn't fix before work though.

Overnight, I slept on the inflatable bed downstairs again so I could keep an eye on my dog, who has been recovering from a virus. Her bladder is back under control, but she's yet to have a bowel movement which has me concerned. She had the runs before, I would hate now for there to either be a complete blockage or just constipation. From one extreme to another. To deal with the bladder issues we had covered her bed with a tarp and a towel on top of that. While it made it waterproof, it also meant that every time she moved an inch it would make a crackling noise that would cause me to immediately awaken and jump up. I was prepared to rush her outside if necessary to avoid a mess from being made indoors. Unfortunately for me, every single time the bed crackled she was just re-adjusting her position. My garmin sleep patterns show some huge peaks for every time I woke up with a start, so needless to say I'm a bit knackered today. [...]  read more

The Poor Little Miss isn’t doing so well

Little Missy

Unfortunately my poor little pup isn’t well. Last week she had the runs but we thought it was because of some steak we gave her – she’s only used to dry biscuits. Over the weekend we didn’t notice anything, but she was still eating and enjoying her food. Come Sunday night, she seemed a bit more tired than usual, which we had attributed to the 40 degree heatwave that we had experienced over the weekend.

This morning when she still hadn’t eaten, and was really showing signs of fatigue, I decided it was time to take her to the vet. $1,200, an x-ray, ultrasound, drip for intravenous fluids and a lot of prodding later, it’s been determined that it’s just a nasty virus that will hopefully clear up within a few days. We’ve got antibiotics and prescription food to feed her in the interim, and I will be working from home tomorrow to monitor her food and movements. [...]  read more

An update of recent events in my life

Next month I'm riding in a 100km bike ride in Melbourne, and this week my lycra jersey arrived! It's the first time I've ever owned a lycra top (I bought my first lycra pants last month when I bought my bike), and I have to say it doesn't feel as bad on as I had expected. Getting the top was pretty exciting, and made the prospect of doing this ride all the more real. Now I just need to make sure I'm getting some more serious bike time so that I'm prepared, and don't die from the sheer amount of time spent in the saddle (I expect to have a very sore bum). [...]  read more

Lazy night in

Today at work was crazy busy, and mentally I am feeling a bit “blah”. To try and pick up my mood a bit I decided a lazy night in was in order.

I showered early and washed my hair, watched a movie and ate some junk food.

I have also just finished straightening my hair, so now I'm feeling just a little bit pretty.

I got the TV working in my bedroom, so managed a couple more idiot box hours watching some junk tv and the tennis.

And now?

It's bed time. I'm going to have a big long snooze, and while I wouldn't mind a sleep in I will be getting up at 6am again and taking my dog for a walk/run. While I would love a lazy morning, the enjoyment I get from spending time with my dog makes the early rise worth it. [...]  read more
