52 in 52: Weekly round up week 4

52 things in 52 weeks

Holy moses, the first month of the year is nearly over! It feels like 2015 only got underway, yet I’ve blinked and so much time has passed! Still, 11 wonderful and challenging months lay ahead, and I’m looking forward to it.

Newly completed

None for this week, but that’s not surprising since I wasn’t expecting anything.

I went for a run on the treadmill at the gym, and my watch showed that I ran 5km in under 30mins, 29mins in fact. That is one of my 52 in 52s, however to put it bluntly, I consider distance on the treadmill to be BS. Thus I’m not considering it to be done. It will be done when I’m running outside, and my watch with GPS functionality switched on confirms it was indeed 5 km. In the meantime, I’ll just focus on running for 30mins odd straight on the treadmill (I’d prefer to run outside, but sometimes weather dictates the inside run).

Dreaming of owning a house? Dream on!

I'm having a bit of a moment of extreme disappointment right now, completely unrelated to Chet Faker being announced as the winner of the Hottest 100 (I don't mind this song so I'm happy for him but I prefer Peking Duk).

This whole year is about getting out of debt so that I can look at buying a house next year with Mario. All things going well with credit cards paid off and no dramatic changes to my budget, it should be achievable to be out of debt. Then the savings begin to try and get a deposit together. But still, the disappointment doesn't stem from that.

I did a budget tonight pretending I was paying for a house.

And THERE comes the disappointment.

Recap: Week 3 of the Autoimmune Protocol Diet

I can only say that I didn't expect to have the week I just had. Health wise, I've been feeling pretty good although I have noticed a couple of symptoms return. I'm going to use the time next week to play around with my food and see if there's something I'm still eating that's causing it. My number 1 suspect: sugar. I'm still only having natural sugars in the way of fruits and some odd maple syrup or honey, a thousand times improvement on what I was like pre-diet, but I've still noticed my stomach grumbling a while after I've eaten.

Last weekend I tried some kimchi at the markets, but only after I swallowed did I realise it had chilli in it. Uh oh. Sure enough, 2 hours later my stomach had bloated right out and I was laying on the floor at home in agony. I'd had to put on a brave face as my friend was over, but the moment she walked out the door I collapsed down. I napped with a cold compress on my head for about 20mins, then dragged myself up so we could go grocery shopping. I just managed to make it to the front door of Coles before I had to bail on Mario and make for the toilet. I just made it, and let's just say it wasn't a fun experience. Lesson learned – no chilli. The non-chilli kimchi was nice though!

52 things in 52 weeks

I’m a little bit behind in posting this weekly update this week, but that’s because I’ve been spending every spare moment reading (aka cramming) my book for my girls book club. We’re catching up tonight and I still have some to go – eek! So the results from the past week and a bit: Newly … Read more

Time flies when you’re early to bed (+ meet Rosie my vacuum cleaner)

It occurred to me today as I was making my way home that I really don’t get that much time to do things at night. Disclaimer – I don’t have kids so I really shouldn’t be complaining, and I’m not really, just making an observation.

For example, tonight I was at home by 6pm. Mario had dinner on the table by 6.15pm, and by 7pm I was cleaning up. Then began the chores and the list of things to do. Tonight I have completely pulled apart Rosie, our amazing robot vacuum cleaner, and given her a thorough do-over in cleaning her bits (sounds a bit rude doesn’t it). I’m now about to update my budget and bills and see how I’m tracking for the month. By the time I’ve finished that it will be about 8pm. I get half an hour to do something, then I’m in bed by 8.30am. It’s really not that much is it?
