Morning recap – so much poop

A few days ago, Luca’s daycare had to cut him off food because he was eating SO. MUCH. (Possibly a growth spurt?)

Today I found out where all of it went.

I smelled his butt and figured it needed a change. I put him on his change table, opened his nappy and SO. MUCH. POOP.

The smell was overwhelming.

The more I wiped the more it smeared. If I had hooks I could have hung him from and hosed his butt I would have. A bath wouldn’t have saved him; it had to be wiped and sprayed.

He kept trying to put his hands in it, so then I was fighting his hands and the ever-expanding smear poop. It was messy. [...]  read more

Running, sleep and me time

This week there’s been a shift in the air. I’m probably going to jinx it, but everything seems to be going well. I feel rested, energetic, motivated, and in love with my husband. My baby has given me a good sleep. My running training is on track.

I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time. I feel like “me”.

There’s a big disclaimer here. It’s not that I hate my life or anything. It’s just been a really trying time for a while now. I still plan on writing about some of the more personal things, but we’ll come back to that later. [...]  read more

Luca letter: 7 months old

You’re officially closer to being a year old than a new born! And in 2 months you’ll have spent just as much time on the outside as you did on the inside. Crazy!

Let’s take a look at this month.

First flight

It was your first (and second) ever flight this month! We flew up to Townsville for my cousin Gerry’s wedding, which was absolutely beautiful (side topic: welcome to the family Jenna).

On the way to Townsville you fell asleep in daddy’s arms at the airport, which made our plan for you to sleep during the whole flight “fly out the window” (sorry, bad pun). Despite our best efforts you woke up when we tried to transfer you to my lap with the seat belt around you. Instead, we managed to feed you on the way up which meant there weren’t any issues with your ears. During the entire flight you played with daddy, climbing on the seat and having fun. You became tired again right before it was time to land (perfect timing) so fed to sleep and passed out. It wasn’t until we reached the taxi that you woke up and finally realised we were somewhere new. [...]  read more

April update for the 2018 52-in-52 list

I had a cracker of a month when it comes to my 52 in 52! I started the month with 35 items remaining, and as it stands right now I only have 26. That’s 9 in one month, hells yeah!

Let’s go through them.

Join a mother’s group

When I was pregnant my hubby and I did an antenatal class to prepare ourselves for the birth. After that, all of the girls in the class stayed in touch. We were all first time mothers, and it was helpful to chat with others going through the same process.

Well, just recently we’ve gone from more of an online discussion group with the odd catch up to becoming more of a mother’s group., starting with organised a fortnightly catch up taking turns hosting at our houses. The babies play, the mother’s debrief, and we all enjoy ourselves. [...]  read more

Luca letter: 6 months old

I’m a broken record, I know, but I’m seriously stunned every time another month rolls around and it’s time for the next letter. It’s taken me so long to write this one that the next one is due in only 2 weeks!

Things are progressing…

You’re continuing to progress in some skills that you’ve already developed. For example:

Swimming class

This month you moved into an official “paid” swimming class instead of the free ones for babies up to 6 months. And within the first two sessions you’d already had your head underwater – very impressive! [...]  read more
