The Pregnancy Diary: 37 week recap (aches, pains and tears)

Hoo boy, here I was at 33 weeks tracking along thinking everything was fine and dandy. Then I hit 37 weeks and found myself surrounded by one dark grey cloud.

It’s time for the 37 week recap, and things are going to get emotional.

Aches and pains

I’m officially really uncomfortable. I had been, in my mind, still decently active up until this point. I was still able to go for walks with Ness, although we had dropped it back to 2 days a week. Admittedly, some of those days I’ve had to pike out as well due to heart burn, lack of sleep etc. I wasn’t perfect, but at least I could still move (albeit slower). [...]  read more

Product review: aquamamma hydration drinks

Before I fell pregnant, I was already a thirsty person. You will always find me with a water bottle nearby: on my desk at work, in my bag, on my bedside table. In fact, when my husband and I got married we threw in some sneaky funny vows at the end of the ceremony for each other (i.e. Mario had to write out vows I wrote for him to read me, and vice versa, except we only found out what they were during the ceremony). One of his was that he vowed to always put a bottle of water by my bed every night for me! [...]  read more

8 times I wish I could punch myself

There’s a difference between regretting something, and just acknowledging you’re an idiot. I don’t have many regrets (none that spring to mind right now anyway). Yet there are times that I can admit I said/did things that were pretty dumb. Really dumb.

Let’s get real. I needed future me to come and give me a big slap in the face.

Ohhhhh how I had no idea.

1- When I complained about how “fat” I was in early pregnancy

I have this one on my blog even. It’s documented there for everyone to see! At the time everyone kept saying “just you wait”, but I was too caught up in my emotion at the time. It was just bloating you idiot-from-the-past! Now, I’m genuinely stuck with fatty back bums and fluid filled nether regions. My back looks like I have gills. My butt has its own post code, and could actually be a sufficient spot to store away another two babies. When I was complaining, I still fit my jeans back then! What an unappreciative idiot. [...]  read more

Last day in the office (and they gave me boobies)

Well, that’s that; I’ve officially finished up in the office for the next 7.5 months. I’ve got another 2 weeks of working from home, before finally taking 2 weeks off before baby’s due date. it will be the longest break I’ve ever had from work since starting full-time work at aged 18.

This week the girls in the office threw me a baby shower, which was really lovely of them! They had asked me what we wanted in the way of gifts, which as you may remember from my baby shower weekend always makes me feel uncomfortable.  I just don’t like that people feel like they have to give us anything. [...]  read more

Health scare and hospital (let’s talk about sex, baby)

I swore that when I started writing about my pregnancy that I would cover the good, the bad, and the ugly. When I fell pregnant, I searched for blogs of people going through the same emotional roller coaster that I was. Instead, I found tons of “pregnancy is wonderful and glowing and rainbows” – the complete opposite of how I was feeling. So I made my promise to cover it all.

This is one of those stories.

Warning – if you can’t handle gory details, maybe skip this one. [...]  read more
